Carbonear Hospital Commission

This morning I delivered the work for my latest commission, this one for Carbonear Hospital. The work was commissioned by Dr Christopher Patey and Dr Daneile O'Dea, local husband and wife physicians. The commission was for 6 framed prints featuring single edition, one of a kind landscape photographs of the Carbonear area. They will be displayed in the trauma rooms at the Carbonear Hospital.

The commission was for single edition prints and through preliminary meetings we discussed and agreed on the overall concept of the collection. After a specified period of time (this commission duration was about 6 months) I present the client with a series of photographs from which they pick the images to be printed and framed. The number of images presented, framing, size, as well as other details, was decided during preliminary meetings and correspondence. The cost is based on the size and number of prints.

Below we have Dr Chris Patey holding the print, "Morning at Salmon Cove Sands". One of six images in the collection.

Back to My Roots

I often refer to myself as a landscape photographer even though the work I do is expanding into many different areas. These days I'm doing a lot of portraiture both professionally and in a number of personal photography projects I have on the go. Though I might be doing less than I used to I find landscape photography even more appealing than I have in the past. A precious longing persists!

If the reward is a good hike and getting some of that gorgeous Newfoundland air into my lungs I'll gladly accept the payment.

Landscape photography is more than about the images. I like being out, turning into the wind closing my eyes, inviting the breeze to caress my face. Experiencing a personal relationship with Mother Nature. There is also a sense of freedom attached to the experience. It certainly is a lovely feeling, the present is the only moment and you can appreciate being connected to all this beauty.
