Canadian Surgery Forum

One of the things I like doing best as a photographer is to cover conventions. I always get to meet amazing people and when I make my rounds to the various presentations, lectures and workshops I am able to take in some of what they have to say and find out what they are doing in our communities. It certainly re-enforces one belief of mine that we have brilliant and committed people all around us and you come away feeling good about things.

Jeffrey Simpson gave the Langer Lecture at the Canadian Surgery Forum

The  Canadian Surgery Forum held in St John's Newfoundland, September 13th,14th and 15th 2018, is a good example of this. To meet many of these people, to see the complexity of the surgical field, to visit the workshops and hear the best surgeons in the world discuss various issues and challenges with other doctors and medical professionals is inspiring. One of the issues debated was how to keep the cost of medical services at an affordable level. A pressing issue for sure!

Breakfast with the Professor- one of the workshops available

"Breakfast with the Professor" is a workshop where surgeons, other medical professionals and medical students can come and discuss issues and learn from some of the best in the world!

While every imaginal issue was discussed, Stewardship: the ethic that embodies the responsible planning and management of resources, was the major theme of the 3 day convention.
